Notice of Race

Byte CII European Championship 2013

Imperia, December 4 – 8, 2013

The Organizing Authority (OA) is Yacht Club Imperia in conjunction with the Byte Class International Association (BCIA).

1. RULES

1.1. The 2013 Byte CII European Championship will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2. If there is a conflict between languages, this English text shall take precedence.

 

2. ADVERTISING

2.1. Advertising shall be permitted in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.

2.2. Competitors may be required to display event advertising provided by the OA and such advertising shall be permitted on the main sail. This changes the allowed advertising of 20.4.1.

 

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1. The regatta is open to all Byte CII sailors, irrespective of age or gender.

3.2. The entry fee will be 100 € for entries received prior to 20 November 150 € for entries received after that date.

3.3. No entries will be accepted after December 1, 2013.

 

4. SCHEDULE
– Registration: 
– December 4th, from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm

– December 5th – 09.30 Welcome Ceremony .

– December 5th – 10.00 Competitor Briefing on Sailing Instructions

Dates of racing: 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th December

Number of races:
– The will be a series of 10 races with 3 per day scheduled but, with the approval of Italian Sailing Federation , a maximum of 4 allowed.
– The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on the first day of racing 11.00 a.m.
– The scheduled time of the warning signal on the following days will be announced in the Sailing Instructions
– On 8th Dec. the last possible Warning Signal will be at 15:00

5. MEASUREMENT
No pre measurement is planned. All boats and accessories may be a checked for compliance with the Class Rules at any time during the event.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1. Sailing Instructions (SIs) will be available on the event website and during registration.

 

7. VENUE

7.1. Racing will be held in the waters in front of Porto Maurizio, in the  town of Imperia , in the North West of Italy. A map of the zone is available on line at www.ycim.it

 

8. COURSE

8.1. The courses to be sailed will typically be of a windward/leeward or triangular configuration but may be of different configurations that reflect potential courses to be sailed at the Youth Olympic event.

8.2. Specific course details will be outlined in the SIs.

 

9. PENALTY SYSTEM

9.1. RRS 44.1 is changed so that “Two-Turns Penalty” is replaced by “One-Turn Penalty” when a boat may have broken a rule of Part 2 while racing.

9.2. Appendix P shall apply however P2.2 is changed to: “When a boat is penalized a second, or any subsequent time during the regatta, her penalty shall be to promptly retire from the race. If she fails to take it she shall be disqualified without a hearing and her score shall not be excluded.”  P2.3 shall not be applied.
9.3. Decisions of the International Jury shall be final in accordance with RRS 70.5.

 

10. SCORING
10.2 a) When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her
race scores.

b) when 5 to 8 valid races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

c) when more than 8 valid races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of  her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
11. PRIZES

11.1.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers overall.

11.2. Prizes will be awarded to the top three female finishers overall

11.3. Special prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Organizing Authority

 

13. EVENT HEADQUARTERS

13.1. The Event Headquarters will be located in the port of Porto Maurizio ( Imperia )

 

14. BERTHING

14.1 Boats shall be kept in their assigned area in the boat park.

 

15. MEDIA RIGHTS

15.1. Competitors give absolute right and permission for video footage and photographs of themselves or their boat to be published, in perpetuity, in any media for press, editorial, or advertising purposes.

 

16. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 

16.1. Sailing is an activity that carries with it an inherent risk of damage and injury.  Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at their own risk and are reminded to pay special attention to RRS 4, Decision to Race. All competitors will be required to sign the following waiver at registration or, if under the age of 18, present the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
“I hereby acknowledge that the YACHT CLUB IMPERIA, the Italian Sailing Federation, the Italian Byte Class Association, the Byte Class International Association, the regatta sponsors and their representatives, officers, members and volunteers accept no liability whatsoever for any loss of life, property, personal injury or damage caused by or arising out of the Regatta and that participants compete entirely at their own risk. I further agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions.”

17. INSURANCE
All competitors competing in this event shall have third party insurance cover not less than 1,000,000 EURO for any accident. Each competitor shall produce on registration evidence of such insurance and any competitor not holding this cover shall withdraw their entry.

18. CHARTER BOATS

18.1. Charter boats, with sails, will be available from Nautivela s.r.l

Charter fee for one complete boat including Insurance for the event 4- 8 December, is euro 700

Charter fee for one complete boat including Insurance for training camp before the event
30 November – 3 December 2013, is euro 480

Charter fee for one complete boat including Insurance for the training camp prior to the Event and
the Event itself, 30 November – 3 December, is euro 900

18.2. Deadline for charter reservations is November 15, 2013. Deadline for charter confirmation and payment is November 20, 2013.

19. COACH AND SUPPORT BOATS

19.1. Coach and support boats will be required to register and may be required to fly a numbered flag to

19.2. Conduct of registered coach and support boats shall be governed by the SIs.
